Project Overview
The 200 MW / 800 MWh Black Kettle Energy Storage facility will provide energy and capacity services to the OG&E grid, enhancing grid reliability and supporting a more resilient and efficient system. The project will abide by the most stringent design and cutting-edge safety standards to ensure the project maximizes benefits to OG&E ratepayers and Woodward County.
Construction of the Black Kettle Energy Storage facility is expected to begin in 2026, with completion in 2027. Once operational, the project will help OG&E enhance grid reliability while supporting its goal of reducing emissions by 50% by 2030.
Situated along a major transmission corridor feeding the Woodward substation, the Black Kettle Energy Storage site is ideally positioned for new energy infrastructure. The project’s placement adjacent to the Woodward substation and existing transmission lines minimizes environmental impacts, making it an ideal fit for the surrounding area to support the capacity needs of the region.
